Hi All,

can anyone shed some light or point me in the right direction.

I have a coffee peculator from the USA that is 950W 110V - How can I best get this running in the UK.

Bear in mind this is a £45 machine so I dont want to be spending £120 on a voltage transformer rated for 1000W.

My thoughts were maybe I could transfer the heating element out of a kettle in to it or similar??

Thanks

Jason

Perhaps you should have bared that in mind ....Before you purchased the said peculator!!! Unlike your thinking, appliance elements are not generally interchangeable from one appliance to another let alone from different manufactures!!!

A for pointing you in the right direction, you have two choices, ...purchase an appropriately sizes transformer, or bin your Yank peculator and purchase a model suitable for European power supplies!!!

I was going to suggest if it's only 1000watts then you could possibly maybe if you're desparate fit a 2-wire dimmer module inline with the element. This could reduce the RMS value of the supply to the element. Don't blame me if it doesn't work and it costs you a dimmer as well as the coffee machine being damaged. This only has a cat in hell's chance of working if there's no electronics involved in the machine......if there is electronic controls and displays then a 230-110 step down transformer is your only option.
