I have a new car and have moved my kids in car DVD screens from a Passat to an Audi Q3, there is a significant whining noise and lines across the screen, I have just tried to get it up and running quick for a journey tomorrow so have just wired it to a cigarette plug, i have also tried an in line supressor which has made no difference.

Any ideas as to the problem, do I need a separate feed from the fusebox to bypass the internal wiring, is it a gound issue, do I need to go to fround rather than just using two cables to the cigarette lighter style plug, the noise is happening even when the engine is switched off!? Any suggestions much appreciated.

No not even just whining when the engine is switched on it does it as soon as the ignition is switched on, have been reading up about ground loop isolators and this may be the item I need.

the crap that kids watch these days, the interference is a bonus. :D

It is all a bit temporary at the moment with wires everywhere, I am going to strip it out and start again running a permanent live from the fuse box (it is currently plugged in), it is to do with the sound rather than the video as if I unplug the sound cables it goes away. I think there may be difference in the ground between the video unit and the screens, I have also got some long cheap connecting leads so have ordered some connectors to take them out. I will get on with it just as soon as I get a minute to breathe. Surrounded by bloody accounts at the mo!:)
