what's line marker?

suppose i could wrap some bright tape around them though maybe different colours will identify them quicker as to which is which.

It's the cheap as chips spray paint contractors use to mark out for the diggers to excavate for supplies

Mft 1553 zs problem

Hi. I have the same problem with my mft 1553 on site. When doing a 3 lead test on the no trip finction it just appears "ert" after 5 seconds. I tried mi tester on various properties and the same thing happens. The probes are ok and connected fine and the circuits come out good on the dead testing. I'm shure there is a promlem with the tester. Please advise.

check the manual for error codes - it is available on line if you have not got the original. There are links to it on here somewhere :)

Give Meggar a ring on 01304 502101 as it might be a internal fault.

ive found the problem with them light mate adaptors is more and more installations of lighting circuits that have GU10 fittings is theyre not earthed and have to pull the fitting down anyway somewhat defeating the object of the adaptor

The T&E are in aJB with a 2 core flex coming out to the fitting or even when it is a 3 core flex the green/yellow core taped up round the outside of the flex !!!

Anyone else seen this type of practise ?

That would be the case for any class II luminaire, you could take a reading for Zs or R1 + R2 at the switch.

quite correct but when the blooming in switches are forbes and lomax accessories and dont have one of their little tools to remove the lock ring that keeps the switch in place things start to get a bit frustrating
I work in belgravia and the surrounding areas so you can imagine the quality of finish

give me mk white plastiv logic plus anyday !!

Hi Bsc

The 3 wire no trip loop test when using the testleads requires good connections with the prods during the testing period. A momentary disconnection of the earth or neutral connection will result in the tester stopping the test and displaying 'trp' as the tester thinks the power has been disconnected.
Very rarely a poor intermittant earth connection that was fine on the continuity 200mA test can interupt the no trip 15mA test.

Regarding your tester, if the tester performs a perfect no trip test with the mains testlead and the testleads are fine then it is possible a terminal connection problem may exist within you tester. The positive and negative terminals must be ok since you can carry out continuity tests so this leaves only the neutral No Trip Loop terminal.

During your next no trip test with the testleads ensure a good connection during the entire length of the test, if the 'trp' problem persists then recheck continuity of the testleads. If the leads appear to be fine then a service may well be the only option.

Regards

Megger TSG

Pfc is driveing me mad,1/prospective shortcircuit current at theorigin of the supply.2/prspective short circuit current at the origin ofa circuit.3/prospective earth fault current in lighting circuits at the remote point.4/prospective earth fault current in a ring circuits at theremote point. What isthisall about all i want to know which ofthem is to go in the certificate

Hi mate
measure the pefc at origin i.e. at the supply side of main isolator switch with the switch off and loads removed but with the main earthing conductor connected to the MET and the pscc whichever is the higher is the PFC the one you record on your certs hope thats some help

The pfc figure that is recorded on a cert is the highest of either the short circuit current or the earth fault current. The highest values are obtained closest to the supply ie at the CU.
When checking pefc you should ensure that bonding is connected to the MET.

edit oops sorry bruce must have had this page open for 15 mins+ didn't realise you had replied already lol

thanks pushrod, please tell me how this tow test can be don, please correct me if im wrong 1/to test prospective short circuit current is set the meter on hi pfc useing tow leads one on the line and the other on neutral and press test the value ka ...2/to test prospective earth fault i dont know how do you test the circuit or the origin of the supply again

PSCC set meter to high PFC setting and using 2 leads on line and neutral.

PEFC is exactly the same except you connect to line and earth.

All main protective bonding is connected for these tests and both are done at the origin, the highest reading between the 2 tests is the PFC which is entered on the certs.
