Hello

I have been using a C&G publication called 'Exam Success IET Wiring Regulations 2382-12' written by Paul Cook and Jonathan Elliott to self-study for the exam.

On page 25 of the book they state the following -

'The order of the exam questions follows the order of the IET Wiring regulations publication'

They say in the book that the questions in the exam following the structure below -

questions 1 to 4 - answers can be found from part 1 Scope, object and fundamental principles
questions 5 and 6 - part 2 Definitions
questions 7 to 12 - part 3 Assessment of general characteristics
questions 13 to 27 - part 4 Protection for safety
questions 28 to 41 - part 5 Selection and erection of equipment
questions 42 to 45 - part 6 Inspection and testing
questions 46 to 55 - part 7 Special installations and locations
questions 56 to 60 - Use of the appendices

Would anyone who has recently sat the exam be able to confirm whether this is correct or whether the questions come in a random order.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I know when I done the exam back in 2008 my questions were not in the order of the book. However others in the same room had theirs in order.

Did it earlier this year.
Yes they follow the order of the chapters in the book.
And if you do the pre training not only will they will tell you exactly how many questions in each section but you can take that information in with you and keep track of it.

You can see below that this is how the exam is set up.

This is the test specification from the qualification handbook:
