18 amp saw on 110 v system?

Hi All,
I've just bought a contractor saw (used). The motor is reated 110-115 volts and 18 amps. We just have the regular 110v house current in the garage. Will the saw work okay on it? All opinions welcome!

110-115v is not a UK domestic supply. The UK supply is nominally 230volts.
Are you in the UK, or somewhere else?


PS And the 110 is the VOLTAGE.
The CURRENT is the 18AMPS.

110V Yellow building site transformer with an inbuilt RCD , the one with a little black button on the side of it.....thats what you need....
The 18 Amps part will just be the maximum rating of the motor windings, unless you have bought a saw with a big giant yellow plug instead of one of the little yellow one, in which case you won't be able to use it as the transformer that it needs comes on a forklift pallet.....
what is the rating of the motor in Watts? it should be on the side of the motor or on the saw.... is it a 2KW motor? (1980Watts)

Which is another reason why the location field should be mandatory
