Hi all: Not got Regs book here & can't for the life of me remember the max length of Run for 25mm tails installed in trunking to feed a CU.

If you need longer than 3M from the service head, install a switch fuse. The limit is the DNO suggesting that their fuse will only protect up to 3M.

Cheers guys: The old age is getting to me lol, damned if I could remember. It was a question I was asked by someone who wanted to do a 15m run of tails from the Head to a CU.
Appreciate the answers.

Pretty sure its not in the IEE regs, its a supply authority regulation.

Try 433.2 and 434.2. In both cases 3m is given as the maximum allowable length downstream of the service fuse. However some DNOs specify 2m as a maximum length.

top,
they are not "actually" double insulated.
They are technically insulated & sheathed.
The "grey" covering on T&E & tails is not classed by the cable standards, nor the cable makers as insulation!

You are of course correct. I stand corrected Sir. ;)

Have had Dno before refusing to fit new meter until the 1m tails (insulated and sheathed) were all boxed in. Told him it was nonsense... Maybe he had a point.

buy the same argument, T/E is not double insulated either. it is also insulated and sheathed.

cakey were the tails going into the meter boxed in ??? and what is the length if not in trunking please ??

I prefer when possible not to box in or cover up meter tails. I would rather DIY Charlie knows where they are so he doesnt go drilling holes in things and doing himself or others some serious damage.

Cheers.......Howard

Tails going to meter were just over 2m from rifle board with the first 1.5m ish boxed in trunking. He wasn't happy till every bit was completely boxed in.
