i am currently tendering for some work installing ev chargers.
Company has come back and asked if i have completed the G39 course for working in vicinity of DNO equipment, they take view ev chargers on street or car park is much like street furniture.
From what i can tell the G39 course covers cutouts , removing of fuses and risk assessments etc.
The prices seem to vary a lot between providers, anybody got experience of this course or able to tell me more about it?
Would be much appreciated.

I cannot comment on the cost as the company paid.

But it involved -

A test rig which was essentially the bottom part of a lamp post and testing if the metal work was live before touching anything.

Then got kitted out in insulated gloves and a plastic face guard and then pulled a fuse.

Proved dead.

Test completed.

Very mediocre IMO but this was all company provided.

I’ve done it and found it to be a very informative course, was a two day one organised by my previous employer. I'm on holiday at the moment so can’t check who the training provider was.

My course was 5 years ago so training may have changed as mine lasted half a day.

How long ago was yours Strima?
Mine was two days and we covered a lot. Not just the usual safe isolation and access etc but I’m no a lot more informed about the HV network, cherry picker distances etc. We could have covered it a day but two days made for a very relaxed course with lots of good conversations and thoughts which a lot of courses are sadly missing now.

I think the refresher is 1/2 day.
