c/u change no Equipotential bonding

Hi guys. Am changing a consumer unit but the property has no equi bonding to incoming water. Usually I would make sure it is installed but from where the supply is would be a big job to put it in.
Can I still sign my work off and note that it's been advised or do I insist that the customer pays for the work involved?

Im pretty sure you cant go ahead with the cu change. I have this all the time. I got a leaflet off the niceic to back me up when i tell the customers. Check with your provider. That way then you can always show the customer the email.

If you are doing a consumer unit change then equipotential bonding MUST be in place to satisfy the requirements of protective measures for automatic disconnection of supply. (Somewhere in Part 4 of the BGB)

No bonding, no consumer unit change Im afraid!

As above, it must be installed.
Quote the customer for the board swap with bonding and leave it with them. Inform them that any cheaper quote that excludes bonding will be against regulations, and ignoring key safety measures.

It has to be done and if you've already changed the cu, i suggest you do it for free otherwise it'll reflect badly on you, they won't be happy and just think you're after more work , always test for things like this before quoting! Although is the water run in plastic?

Every estimate I do for a CU change includes line items for installing/upgrading bonding, another for replacing the tails and finally a caveat that if faults are found additional time, materials and costs may be incurred.

Never had a complaint yet about presenting the information in such a way, this is because I explain it all when I visit.

How anyone can say that they quote for a CU change and not include the bonding is a fool.
