You're better off just borrowing a monitor to rule out a fault on either your monitor or the graphics card.

CPC . mate.. flat screem LED monitors on special

do you know if you can buy new circuit boards if they are depatchable....

If you mean graphics cards then yes, you can replace them, you need to check if you have a card or on-board graphics (built into the motherboard).

This is of course assuming that your monitor is ok.

Try and get a spare monitor to test the output from your PC, although in the abscence of any beeps at start-up, I suspect its probably not the graphics (cannot be sure). If it is your screen, its probably the inverter - I see a lot of kakked inverters every week - not an expensive repair, but hardly worth it when new screens are so cheap these days.

If it's not the monitor (which you should check first) indeed try replacing the Graphics Card. However, often graphics problems can also be due to a dodgy processor.

i would first take the monitor to your friendly local PC repair centre. usually they will test it for you at little cost, or even for free. only takes a minute to plug it in to a working set-up.
