Hi,

i have two electric radiators that I would like to swap. They have different lengths of 3-core wire and to be able to swap them successfully I'll have to lengthen one of the wires. I first thought about disconnecting them from the radiators, but the earth wires are soldered in (the live and neutral are easily removed). So that makes things a little more difficult than I had hoped. I seems the best way to sort this will be to reduce the long wire and add it onto the end of the smaller wire. Is there a choc box type of solution that would work well in this situation? Is there a waterproof way of doing this?

Thanks for your advice!

You could use something like this. Depending on what size the cable is.

use a new, longer cable. L and N as you say are easy. for the earth, cut a couple of inches fron the terminal ( inside the heater), connect to the cable earth conductor using a wago221. or a bit of choc block.

Ah, you're right, this is probably the best way. Don't need any new cable in that case...maybe just a small length of earth. Current cable is threaded through a door frame and although it's replaceable, it would be easier not to have to replace it.
