Contractor Switches

We have been recently asked by a housing association to fit "Contractor Switches" on the installations. I have assumed it is a double pole sub-main switch between the meter and the consumers unit but I'm only guessing. Has anyone heard of this?

I'd guess DP switch, so the HA semi skilled maintenance team can work safely on/ in C.U's

Why dont you ask the person who has specified this?

I'd also ask the specifier, it might need to be lockable or conform to other specific requirements.

No, Contractor switch.
We've had some extra info on it and it's seems to be just a sub-main switch between meter and consumers unit. But they want to be there so they can re-seal as soon as we've installed.
