Discuss CU replacement - what is the recommended certification duration? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

An EIC has no time limit as such but further inspections can be recommended upto a maximum 10 years later.
Is this what you mean ?

In GN3, there is a table of recommended maximum intervals, this is table 3.2 p65 in the new GN3.

Private domestic the maximum is 10 years.
Rented domestic the maximum is 5 years and/or change of tenant.

The recommended interval can be earlier, for example if the wiring is old and tatty and in poor condition and say your IR tests are on the low side but still pass, you as the inspector will have to make this decision based on your experience, as only you will know the condition of the installation during your I&T.

Yes, exactly. Basically, the local council is demanding 3 year inspection, so we wanted to know if there is an official line on this?

Thanks.

As said above, the maximum is 5 years for rentals, but it can be earlier, If the council want it every 3 years then he who pays the piper calls the tune.

Maybe they know something you don't lol:rolleyes2:

If its LA owned property then can sitpulate any time limit they want for it to be next inspected!

I would like to think they are taking note of the schedule of test results and your professional opinion if this time limit needs to be earlier with regards to what spark 68 has mentioned!
