Hi,
I have what I hope is a simple question as i am not an electrician and need some advice.
I want to make some changes in my kitchen.
1. The work is to move an electric socket from its current location over the cooker -> move it to the side above the worktop.
2. Change the current plug socket high on the kitchen wall (for extractor fan) into one that has the large red switches (plus the plug socket)
I have previously been told that I need a full electrical survey done first before anybody will do any work. Is this correct?
If not, is this type of work best done by an electrican who can then certify the work they have done?

Thanks in advance
Simon

The kitchen is a special location, you will either need a sparks in a self cert scheme or if you are doing it yourself then you need to inform building control first and then after the works are completed so they can sign the job off

If I get a sparks in, will they still need to do a full house certification, or can they just sign off what they are doing?
Thanks

A kitchen is not a SPECIAL LOCATION

It is an area of increased risk.
