Hi All, I'm working on an older agricultural installation (100A single phase) and would appreciate your thoughts on earthing details :)

Main building is TT. Well it is now that I've installed some rods and reinstated it... There is an outbuilding with some pumps etc that I'm also upgrading. It's about 50m away, supplied by SWA from the main building with armour as CPC. I plan to rod the outbuilding and am thinking to combine the 2 earth rod installations by continuing the SWA armour into the sub board in the outbuilding. My thought being to reduce the installation's Ra and improve its resilience. Or should the 2 buildings means of earthing be kept separate?

Can't see why it would be a problem.

Thanks Westie.
Original rod had vanished and bonding was to a bit of copper pipe I found kicked under the basin in the wash area, long since replaced by a plastic supply. Fortunately the old RCD was still functioning and no incidents had occurred. Originally I was asked to help with a new circuit in the outbuilding pump room but it became a bit more.

Sounds like a typical farm I fear for my life every time I visit my brother-in-laws farm.

have you found the farmer's supply of spare fuses?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was underneath that washroom slab somewhere. Here's a boring pic of the new chap. Like a proud parent I am ... I'm not saying Ra yet, cause I'm hoping to break my record with the 2nd building in parallel :)
