Hi Guys,
Just wondering what I write on an EICR when I come across different conductors, I have a job with what I think looks like multi-stranded 4mm tinned copper on a ring.
Particularly in the schedule of test results, do I just say it's 4mm/2.5mm and then add it as an observation, is it even a code, C3 would make some sense as long as the insulation is good. I was thinking of putting ferrules on as the connections in the few accessories I've checked look a bit... squeaky.

On the subject of this job, a previous spark told the owner he would rather not go into the main CU as "he would find things he can't ignore", he then does not tell the client he should re-wire even though the house is having a renovation and is being completely re plastered. So he adds a second CU to add a breaker for underfloor heating, then just for funzies adds a 2.5mm radial from a 32amp breaker supplying a ring to another underfloor matt and then another 2.5mm radial from another ring for the boiler, WHAT A...

Many thanks

Cable could be 7/029 the old imperial cable used for RFCs before metrification.

Imperial cables are usually tinned copper, metric ones usually plain copper. Was the CPC stranded? If it has 3 strands (and L & N have 7) then almost certainly 7/.029 as Pete says, bog standard for RFCs. Approx 3.0mm² with a 1.0mm² (or possibly 1.5mm²) earth.

Why would you code it?

If it Tests OK then why bother, make a not on the cert to say that it's imperial cable and leave a note inside the CU if you are super OCD about it.

Ok, that all makes sense, I can't remember exactly but I thought that the earth was a single.
I have not got to testing yet, my main question was not about coding but where to write that it is a non standard conductor,(i.e. I am used to writing 2.5/1.5 or whatever for t&e) so if I'm right on the test sheet I will write 7/029 and 3/029 for 1.5mm this will then make it clear what wire it is and clearly no observation is then needed.

Cheers guys
