A guy at work shown me a length of cable with a plug with 5 ports (to connect to heater) and 5 wires on the other end. Apparently the heater has a stat on it.

Just wondered if any you gents knew what happens with the black and grey wires?? Thanks again.

What colours are the other 3 wires?

and this is from your mate? not been to a double funeral for ages. very good. twice the booze.

Have you tried putting the model of heater into a Internet search engine to look for a instruction manual, or even tried using a 19th century invention called the telephone and called then manufacturer direct and asked them?

I don't know the model, he just had a lead with the 5 wires on the end, it's just annoying that i don't know it works or how thermostats are connected up

In which case mate, you or your mate need your heads examined, IF you are planning to try to connect it to 230v without the manufacturers instructions.......
