Hi helpers
I have just purchased a fluke 1653b tester. Having a play with it tonight ( the tester ha ha ) and I am having trouble with testing zs. I plug the 3 leads into the tester , plug the socket tester in and press test and get a reading of <2000 . I have not got a manual and I have googled the net and cannot find what I am doing wrong ? Have I got it set up wrong ? The setting it is on is zl no trip. Cheers

Did you remember to null the leads before doing the loop test? Did you remember to switch the BS1363 socket ON? Would it not be easier to use the BS1363 lead set for the test? Remember the BS1363 lead set will also need nulling on a Fluke 16xx series MFT. To aid nulling either lead set you should find a fancy bent piece of metal in the Fluke box, Fluke call this the Zero Adaptor.

Cheers. I did null leads before testing. Tested 2 other circuits this morn and got same readings. Thanks for help will look through manual tonight

Try taking a Ze reading to see if you have an earth path.

< or > ? have you checked the leads. if fused, has a fuse gone?

Or the fuse in the plug top test lead?
