Hi. Can somebody please confirm exactly what type of fire detection/alarms and indicating equipment would be required for this type of fire alarm system. (Grade b)
I am aware of which parts of the premises need to be covered but I'm a bit confused over the type of equipment as it is just a domestic property. I would have thought grade 'd' would suffice.
Any positive feedback would be nice. Thanks

tazz is your man for that one.

This is unusual, to request a Grade B. Can only think the dwelling in over 3 floors.
Basically Grade B, is full control panel, wired smokes/heats/sounders all wired in FP. System needs to be sufficiently zoned, with 72 hour battery backup. What LD requirement has been requested..?

Ld3 so I believe it would cover escape routes. Landings, hallways etc.
I was a bit confused as I thought a fire panel would be included on grade B, but why required for a standard domestic property?
Do you think the client has misdirected informed me and it is just a grade D with mains powered interlinked alarms?
I have only installed grade B type on domestic when the property is a student accommodation or multiple occupancy.

HMO would usually be Grade A (or infact Part 1) differences between Grade A and Grade B are no callpoints, and life categories ie Grade D LD3 part 6 is Grade A L4.
If you can explain the building, weather domestic or HMO, and brief layout with number of floors, I may understand were BC are coming from

I will be taking a look on Sunday and will also take a look at the letter from the local authority to clarify their requirements.
As the client informed me it was a grade B I just wanted to be sure on what this entails as it seemed a bit overkill on what I believed was grade b.
Thanks for your guidance Tazz.
Much appreciated!
