Hi,

I'm a DIYer needing some advice to change a noisy timing switch for a bathroom towel rail to a standard switch. The timer currently installed is a "Trac GP 24/7 & GPE" and has 4 wiring connections- live output to appliance, link to a switch, live from mains, neutral from mains and neutral output to appliance. The standard switch I'm trying to install only has 2 connections (live and neutral). What am I meant to do with the other connections?

Thanks,

Paul

think you may be trying to fit a single pole light switch. this will probably result in a big bang, fried switch. tripped and possibly damaged MCB. think you need to pay an electrician to fit correct equipment safely.

If the timer is actually IN the bathroom, there are extra regulations to what can be fitted.

If it’s outside the bathroom, use a switch fuse. It will have an L and N in, and an L and N out, and it can be fused down to protect the appliance flex.
The circuit may already have one before the timer, but as above, an electrician on site can advise better.
