hot gas cut off solenoid valve

Hi client called me and they got a hot solenoid .....its almost getting too hot to touch....? Its for the emergency gas cut so kinda need to be sorted....thinking lose termination but any thoughts i could get before i go into it?

Dirt in the solenoid not allowing it to fully operate would cause the coil to overheat

have found some of the larger ones do run hot ,you could contact the manufacturer for advice.

I've come accross hot solenoids myself too, quite a few infact. Seems that's the way they are......

especially in safety critical situations like gas, they SLAM open or shut but during normal operation all that power has little to do but dissipate as heat.
