how do I khow what is short circuit capacity (KA) on DEIC

HI Can anyone help me understand how I work out the "short circuit capacity(KA)" for Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate. Sorry struggling with this one.:blush5:

It is the maximum fault a breaker or fuse can safely clear and still remain usable afterwards. On MCBs it is a number with a box round it (at least on the newer ones). For fuse ratings, see the regs book!

If its a bs en 60898 the short circuit capacity is 6 KA should say on the front or down the side hope this helps

Thanks for reply but I am just looking at a Wylex MCB and all that is on the front is B32 and NSB32 so I don't think that is telling me what I am looking for.

NSB32? Is that not the item on recall???

If 6kA not stated then there should be 6000


**** Close but no cigar, just checked and it appears the NSB code only applies to 6A, 10A and 16A ****

Yes it is, won't be visible if fitted.

Check out the image here, it's the 6000 marking that you want to be looking for (6kA) :thumbsup
