There is a 220 volt electric service line crossing my empty sloped lot going to a neighbor's house. Neither the power company nor my neighbor have a written type of easement across my yard for this line. Many years ago the power company just put it there because it was easy to do. It was 15 feet above the ground at it's lowest height. I started building a house on my lot. I asked the power company to move the line. They would not move the line until I signed a written easement for the line across my lot in another area. They do have other easy acess to my neighbor's house over public grounds that would be no further distance from their main line. I started building my house and the foundation top is 9 foot from this wire. My wall height is 10 foot so the walls will be in direct contact with the service line when they go up. The electric company still will not move the wire. They say that it is grandfathered. What would you do? Sue the power company to move the line. What should my lawyer's case say?

I think that you have 2 options.
either give them permission to run it across a different part of your land
or
speak to a solicitor that specialises in real estate issues.

What ever you do don’t try to move it yourself. You can get in a lot of trouble. In NC I call a special number for setting up work orders with the power company and they usually will work with you. I’m like you by code if it goes over the top of your house it’s required to be 8 foot over the top of your home
