I just checked the light switches in the property I am about to buy and there is no earth connection to the metal front plate, it has been terminated in a block connector. Should the earth be connected or just change it to plastic?

Many thanks,

Peter

Get a thorough EICR report done, that is a diy replacement switch done badly
There may be other issues hidden in the property

I can see what looks like an earth terminal from where I'm sitting!

I will get the EICR, but I was just wondering if there any way that cable is live in the connector block somehow or is just doing nothing in there.
The blues are the neutral conductors. I would personally replace the block connectors with Wago connectors.

al you need to do is to take the cpc's (earths) out of the connector and terminate into the earth terminal on the faceplate ( obviously with the circuit/s isolated ). an electricial would testthe cpc/s for continuity, but that is beyond the scope of most DIYers. as said above, an EICR is recommended. the vendors may have had one done prior to the sale. check with your solicitor. if they have not, coupled with the switch issue, you may be able to negotiate a price reduction.
