A customers SMA 2500 keeps switching off and on saying there is a problem with the grid frequency. He has had an Immersun installed for about a year and his generation is down - all the wiring has been double checked. Has anyone had any similar problems. Just thinking that it could be the burst fire causing grid fluctuations.

there's a thread on navitron somewhere from someone whose sma inverter was tripping out after an immersun was installed, so yes it probably is that - I think that was one of the older SMA inverters as well.

Is that the 2500HF?
I've got two TL's connected up here and an overworked :) Immersun and no problems.

Aye it is the 2500HF also apparently the property is tyhe furtherest from the sub main.

Out of interest, why does the grid impedance affect the frequency?
it doesn't, but the burst fire works by only firing x% of cycles at full power, and the greater the impedance, the bigger the volt drop will be on that cycle when it fires, which the SMA is obviously picking up as something wrong with the frequency.

can the DNO make us switch them off if not compliant ?
yes they would be well within their rights to.

Since they are now shipping Mk II and we never had any problem with swapping out replacements for Mk1's if there was a problem, I suggest you contact 4eco directly, explain your problem and I'm sure they'll swap it out for you. They have a very good support team there to help out.

Not that I am aware of, they do have some re-programmed Mk1's though.
