RCD obv kept tripping so some bright spark has decided to install isolator then straight to bus bar to stop nuisance tripping, about right? :biggrin5:

I can't see anything feeding the RCD (might be me, but can't see any cable in the top), then there's the stripped insulation and tape on cables and tails that aren't enclosed... Oh and it's a bit messy... No idea on the story though!

I'm with you on this one. The tails should be going into the top of the RCD it appears someone has bypassed this and used to bottom to go straight to the Bus bar and Neutral Bar :(

Yes only know this as that dam RCD was so sensitive and it seemed a quick fix at the time

Makes you wonder though, must of been done by a spark at some point, not exactly the type of job a DIYer would undertake!

Some BRIGHT SPARK that one!

That is Death waiting to happen and has just reminded us all the importance once again of isolating the supply and proving dead before be drawn in by the pretty copper components :D

yeah apologies about picture quality only mobile phone camera,
rob your spot on,rcd kept tripping out she called out a 'spark ' he said RCD is broken and installed an isolator next to CU(not even a new one, an old one from the back of his van), original supply to cu (now feeds top of isolator) 16mm twin and earth fed via henly block directly to 60A 1361 main supply, then he 'installed, 6mm singles taped together and thru crimped to 3inches of 10mm singles to feed busbar directly over-riding the RCD.
All this and all the fault was, was a socket front had squashed the neutral in the back box on the kitchen ring circuit!!!!

What a ----er! you can only wonder what other quality installs this bloke has done!

Lesson for the day NEVER ASSUME! ALWAYS TEST!

And how much did he charge her for this, about a year and a half ago?

£275 for cash!!!

I said did you get certificates, couldnt wait to see it!

he told her she didnt need one as it was classed as maintenece work
