Anyone notice any increase in power generation leading up to today, other than they would expect for this time of year ??

I assume this would be sensed by Solar panels ???

Only the ones that get through and that arent bounced off by the magnetic effect produced by the poles, which is what actually protects us from receiving lethal doses of irradiation from the Sun AFAIK ?????

I had highest generation this year 1.4kWh above previous highest. But no idea if related.

No effect I would have thought - other than a very very remote chance of a significant storm causing some current in the cabling.

I saw a program last night on Solar Storms - and interestingly the National Grid spokesman said that their contingency plans for such events are to ensure** there are no works taking place on any major line or equipment ... so that they can turn everything on - all lines and all sub-stations.

The theory being that the grid has the maximum capacity available to absorb any currents generated by the varying magnetic field the storm produces.

They, like other utilities, receive solar weather alerts via the US NOAA forecasting system.
