Thinking of grabbing one as there are times it would be very handy, a lot of lads I work with use the dewalt dw088k so that's my first choice although I have been looking at the makita SK102Z they both do the same thing other than the makita having a pendulum lock... do any of you guys/girls use either or a different model?
Any info would be great.

Dewalt have the best lasers of the lot but also the priciest. Don't get a dw088k, spend a few quid more and get the dw089k with a 3rd laser.

Thinking of getting a Stanley SCL-D, has a plumb bob dots as well as vertical/horizontal lines. You can also place on it's back in locked manual, useful for lining up downlights. Laser Levels online, had a useful 'what level' to choose section.

CheeRS for the replies, everyone I speak to has good things to say about dewalt don't know anyone with the makita to get an opinion, the dewalt with the 3rd laser is quite a bit more expensive tbf.

if it says makita on the tin it will be quality, but check one out at supplier before buying.

Treat tools like you'd treat a car: Go for German or Japanese and you won't go wrong!

Now, I know DeWalt was started in the US of that place (but the name DeWalt is German. Lots of German immigrants back then taking their expertise to that place!) and Makita are a Japanese company.

These two countries take their engineering very, very seriously and won't put out crap products. I'd say nip out to a supplier and give them a test drive before you settle on one. And, if you're a skin-flint like I am, go test one out then find a better priced one on the net.

You forgot about Bosch.............'it's a piece of junk' as Moriarty would say.

So doesn't that answer your question.

What have you decided about the "pole"? I would recommend you get one that can operate with a "tripod" base!

I ve got the bosch GLL2 and bosch tripod good bit of kit but not quite on par with the dewalt.
the dewalt can throw vertical lines behind it - perfect for doing down lighters as you don't need it against the wall.
also the laser is the brightest of the lot.
