I am trying to switch one circuit from many differnet sources ie time clock 3 presence detectors and an overide switch. I can make the all 230 volt but sctraching my head at the moment on how to do this. The way I would like to do this is through a multi coil contactor. Does anyone know if this is available.

Cheers

Darren

I assume to want to switch on one circuit from 5 different sources ?
You need 5 separate relays/contactors each one has its coil operated by its own source/detector.
The one circuit is then wired in parallel on a set of contacts on each relay so any relay switches on the circuit.

If all the switching devices are on the same final circuit (supplied from the same fuse or circuit breaker) I would think that you could just connect all the outputs together to feed the load. Or am I missing something? Do the "presence detactors" and time clock also control something else?

The circuit which supplies the lights is from a switched circuit in an ilight panel and the switching circuits are fed from another unswitched supply. dont really want a switched circuit from one pir back feeding up another pir

not really the answer i wanted

What answer were you looking for. I've never seen a multi-coil contactor. If you wire all the switch contacts of your timers/over-ride switch/occupancy sensors etc in parallel then it will function so that any of the devices will operate the single contactor coil. You can also play around with the configuration so for example the occupancy sensor and timer could be in series and the over-ride could be in parallel with this arrangement. This would mean that the contactor would operate as per the occupancy sensor but only during the hours pre-set on the timer, but the over-ride would work at any time.

Why not? This should only be a problem if the PIRs are on different fuses/breakers. You could at least connect the outputs of the PIRs together to drive one relay, with the contacts connected across the existing light switch to switch on the lights.
