I've got to provide earthing and lightning protection for a steel tower.
The lightning protection is to be joined with the bonding of the steelwork.

There's a metal pole on the top which will have a battery powered obstacle light on top of it.
An air rod will be attached to the pole and will have a sheathed earth conductor coming from it.
I was originally going to run this earth wire down the outside of the pole but now I'm thinking of drilling 2 holes in the poll near the top and bottom and running the earth wire down inside the poll.

I can't think of any regulation that would forbid this.
Have I overlooked anything?
-Thanks

Cheers Steve-

Couldn't see anything wrong with it myself but arrogance can be a dangerous thing.
One of the blokes here reckoned that the cable would have to be on the outside so that any damage sustained from lightning would be visible.
I didn't think that could be right as the buried earth tape obviously isn't visible.

You know yourself, every job has a few of these "experts".
