Discuss Someones in trouble....! in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm not sure if anyone cares with the post being a few days old... I wanted to double-check this myself to see if plastic boards are really the devil and a hazard, in this situation I could see how the regulation could be considered retrospectively. Electrical Safety First best practice guide 4 has plastic distribution boards in escape routes as a C3 or just noted if not. If other aspects of the system were shonky I am sure you would be justified upping to a code 2 (especially if it was an MK board). The fact that he dismissed your concerns and got it sorted so quickly sounds worrying.

It was a "drive by" EICR . I was explaining the mess the industry is in to a client .And they could not believe just how "Privatised " the industry is

I thought it was a C2 due to been next to a landing that is the single fire escape for 4 other flats ??
If the consumer unit is located under wooden staircase or within a sole route of escape from the premises, a code C3 classification (meaning that improvement is recommended) would be appropriate.

Was it a split load CU ? What other fails were there?

Just a wee word from me...some Landlords DO care!
I am one such, but I had a few on my books in my past life who also cared a lot. We discussed the right way, they agreed. We didn't let without proper certs all round, and the beauty is you got no come-backs, because all was good.
Scummy landlords don't give a flying foxtrot, but if every step of the way they are thwarted, eventually they will give in...especially in a small community.
If asked to cert when not right, walk away...you all know that on here, otherwise you would not be on here! Those who duck behind the parapets are not to be trusted...
I will stick my neck out here...
Every year I attend a specialised landlords conference, and it is a great event, with like-minded folks gathered together along with the usual trade stands offering new ideas for security, fire prevention, heating and insulation etc. Every year there is an absence of a certain spectrum of landlords...I will say no more, but we all know who they are.

The bacon rolls are amazing, though!

Just remember that if you do your job properly, you are definitely saving lives, every day. Not a bad way to live, eh?

We all know and agree .Same people who erect large buildings in their gardens illegally and rent them out .From google maps try looking at Feltham and Hounslow etc for examples . Imagine 8-12 people living in a illegal building ina garden next to you (If you are not doing the same) The smell of ---- and stuff is terrible .But the councils wont stop it as it might upset "Their friends "
