Gents, perhaps you can throw some 'light' on some situations that have arisen and offer your experiences of this situation.
I am dealing with a most perdantic building controller here in the South who has insisted on the follwoing:-
1. We are planning on putting spots in bedroom #1 and bathroom on first floor. He has insisted that all spots are self contained, fire rated and more expensive obviously than the 'standard' units. Insulation must NEVER be broken so no caps or removing insulation around fitting is permitted.
2. On the ground floor we are planning on putting spots in the kitchen and lounge, again were planning to use 'standard' spots with caps and plenty of airflow. He has insisted that all joists are packed with with insulation hence fire rated fittings are the only game in town as far as he is concerned. Insulation again must not be broken and the more expensive fittings must be utilised.
If you have any thoughts or experiences it would really be appreciated.
