I've been living in an apartment for a month now and there is a strange multi-toned humming and beeping noise keeping me awake at night. The noise is multi-toned ranging from a low hum to a high beep in very random patterns, randomly coming and going every few minutes or seconds. It ranges in volume and seems to move about the room from within the walls so I can't really pinpoint exactly where it's coming from.
I've switched off my own electricity box and all my devices but it's still present.

I'm just wondering if anyone know if this is an electrical problem, perhaps something to do with the general wiring in the building or something? It's really driving me crazy.

Thanks :)

A sound recording might help us here.
But if I had to make a guess, I would be looking at plumbing transmitting vibrations through the building

I'm a light sleeper , with kids who late night Xbox ...
In these Covid times !
I have plenty of loud smoke alarms .
but finally have bit the bullet -and sleep with earplugs for my sanity ... and safety of my children !
(I got use to a noisy main road..but wake -to Excitement events)

Some sounds that appear within a room are coming from outside -try curtains
..weak sound bounces and concentrates at certain locations in room frequency dependant .. (Vehicle reversing beepers--and verbal warning
--Shunting / Lorry park ! )

It can’t be anything in the building wiring if you turned everything off... unless you share floors, walls etc with neighbours??

It’s normally electronics that give off a buzz... tv on standby, usb chargers... electric toothbrush???

Are you close to an electrical suppliers distribution stations?
