Hi I just installed a 5000va transformer 240 - 110 v and cant see what protection there is on secondary side for short circuit.
now i take it that it's a centre tapped safety isolating transformer because in getting half the secondary outlet voltage between line to earth (would it be visual if it was centre tapped via earth as i cant see earth going to coils at all )
now the question is do i need to install a double pole isolator on secondary side or would the mcb on primary side protect on a fault current on secondary side
i just had niceic out and he said that i need to join earth to neutral on secondary side of transformer i cant see how this would help and i think i would only get 55 v outlet total
the other problem is the Usa don't have fuses in there plugs so if the secondary side of transformer is fused at 40A then the flexes and equipment which are plugged in are not protected so has any one got a better idea other than putting 13A spurs in supplying each 110V socket
