Ran a load of cabling recently on a refurb job , we got asked to put the plates on (for free as always) , guy bought a load of triplex outlets for behind his tv ' s

All cables run back into a main cupboard , and all labelled correctly , he reckons he has connected cables together with plugs just to get one coax working in the front room , I assume straight off the aerial , male to female in cupboard and out of triplex in the front room

Now am I right in thinking that when using those triplex plates that they HAVE to be connected through a distribution amp??

you can't just use them as regular coax wall plates if all you want if a free view signal straight from the aerial ??

Any input much appreciated
