Has anybody had to use the SMA grid code unlock system?
Looking at the SB4000TL once the code has been entered say via sunny explorer, is it possible then to simply use the grid setting dials (A & B) on the inverter or does it have to be changed using sunny explorer.

Yes Sorry, it was a bit vague. The inverter was comissioned with the switches set at A=0 B=1 so factory defaults and need changing to A=5 B=8 for G38 but it is displaying the message "Mod Grid Code Not Pos" so need the unlock code to make the changes. SMA are processing the unlock code request. The unlock code will be entered using sunny explorer. My question is once the unlock code is entered and accepted by the inverter is it OK to then exit sunny explorer and simply set the switches to A=5 B=8 or does the G38 grid settings have to be done via sunny explorer?

Hope that explains it a bit better

Thanks
John

You can't change the settings once the inverter has been up and running for 10 hours. We found that out the hard way!
Pretty sure you need a bluetooth enabled laptop to be able to enter the code and if memory serves it then enables you to access a different menu and change the grid connection info.

hope this helps

Thanks for all your input, as it turned out I didn't really need the unlock code just needed to look at the actual problem and read the warning messages properly. There was the first message "Mod Grid Code Not Pos" but then followed by another message ensure DC supply. Having re-seated the solar switch it all fired up correctly and accepted the G38/1 settings. It tages SMA 24-48 hours to process the unlock code request, so who knows it might prove useful in the future.

I should have listened to Corporal Jones from dads army "Don't Panic Captain Mainwaring"

Thanks again.
John
