Morning everyone,

Im looking to build a website, but i don't have a clue where to start, im ok with computers but not good enough to make a website for myself, does anybody know a company to make me one, all advice welcome.:willy_nilly:

oh yeah and do they work for you.

Website building is not as hard as you may think, all you need is a host, a domain name and wordpress. I build affiliate sites for a hobby and bring in extra cash. If you are reasonable comfortable using a computer you can quickly learn how to do it yourself. I use hostgator for hosting as its cheap, uses cpanel and fantastico and the tech support is quick and helpful, do some research to find a good domain name using a keyword tool and then install wordpress(free) which is really easy to use to build a nice looking site.

truckstar, i don't have a clue where to start, domain name? hostgator? then there's putting it all together, wording pictures, il rather leave it to someone, who can make it look professional not like its been thrown together by myself

OK mate

I'm on holiday in a couple of weeks and for something to do I think I'll put together a pdf to show how easy it is for any of us to build a website. It's perhaps a bit much to do in a forum post.

I used http://www.namehog.net/web-hosting/ for many years, really helpful (to the point of giving me extra space for free). The site I put together using Namo web editor. The site got so large that parts of it were hosted on the Hanover university main servers, just don’t ask how I pulled that off. I shut it down when I found my pictures being used on Ebay I wouldn’t have minded so much but they left the hyper-links to my site active!

PS don’t be surprised when you get a bill from the government for continuing registration of your site a few years down the line, the host will sort the registration fees out for you at first.

For gods sake don’t use a free hosting site, it’s you your advertising not their crap sponsors.

Depends on the route you take, getting a site designed, built and hosted could run into thousands. Doing it yourself willl cost around $10 a month hosting, 10$ a year for a domain name and a bit of your time. I know I make it sound simple but there is a learning curve but nothing like ecoming a sparky :D

have a look on 123-reg.co.uk. you can build yourself using their design tools. no html knowledge needed just takes time. do a domain name search on there and will tell you if available then you choose ya package you want
