As above, I have a customer who has a 4 way wylex Rewireable board at the moment. Its in his porch and the porch is tiny so space is at a premium. The smallest I can find is 10 way, is there any other make that is smaller?

Cheers :wink5:

A brand called CED sell a 4+4 ( 8 way ) dual rcd cu.
They're the smallest 17th you can get.
I've fitted loads in small domestic installs and are easy to work with , similar in build to wylex.
Currently £50 at toolstation

I have fitted a Contactum CCU in exactly this situation, I was just able to fit a 6-way (and using a selection of RCBOs) in more or less the place the old Wylex 4-way occupied. It was not that cheap using RCBOs but an awful lot easier than having to move the wires somewhere else.

RCBOs. fit a 5/6/ way to have 1/2 spare.

Have you checked that there is just 4 circuits on the board? I'm willing to bet additional circuits have been added (spuring straight off the fuse, multiple lighting circuits etc)

If you want a 'cheaper option' use a 16th edition style board and 1 Rcbo for the lights/sockets. The separation is for convenience after all, '17th edition' is more about the requirement to provide additional protection via RCDs on just about everything (in the domestic environment anyway)

I find RCBO boards are still a bit too dear. Also most standard C/U's aren't tall enough to wire neatly or easily with RCBO's. I used a metal clad wylex with RCBO's today (its 30mm taller). Very nice but very expensive. Personally I only recomend RCBO boards for clients who are very wealthy and prefer the finer things in life.

I suggest RCBO boards when I see the home is old & extended many times!
