If you own the house, details of such a box should be on the deeds
House Deeds are now digitised and held by Land Registry.
It only records property register, proprietorship, and if there are any charges. There is also available a map displaying the boundaries of the property. Nothing else is held or stored. Any other documents that might have existed, may be with the solicitors who carried out the conveyancing or the mortgage provider, when you purchased the property.
I make this point, as when I tried to recover documents, that I knew existed from my solicitors, they could not be found. It didn't help the fact, that my solicitor had past away.
So, if you know of some important documents or of a personal interest, get onto your solicitor or mortgage provider, before they get shredded.
It varies. There are also often details of rights of way, neighbours rights/access for maintenance of their and sometimes covenants that are in place (mine state that I can't run a business from it, and that I can't have a fence or hedge above 2 feet high )
