Hello,

So I thought this would be a simple switch out. Have a broken rocker switch so I'd thought I'd just replace it. The broken one is a P&S/L (Legrand) 3 way, where the red wire in the picture I believe is tighted by the top right screw. But what is the double wiring effect on the bottom right, of which 1 wire is piggytailed. On the left the metallic green screen is not used. And then the lower left .. .is that the live wire? I just bought a new 3 way switch from Lowe's and it's not the same as the one I currently have. The new one the common one I've seen on youtube. 4 screws, 2 on each side. Dark brown (lower right), Green, (upper left), and then 2 brass screws one on each side. So where would my old wires go... when I replace it with the new 3 way switch? Thanks in advance for your help!

The paired blacks go to the black terminal, the green terminal is ground for the bare wire. The other single black and single red go to each of the brass coloured terminals.

Thanks. There's no bare wire. And the red is only 1...how do I split it to two?

It doesn't need splitting connect it to one of the brass terminals, the single black to the other.

Thanks! There is no ground (bare) wire. Is that normal? Not evident in the photo is that this is 1 of 4 in a panel of switches for my basement lighting.

Thanks,
Allison
