Train 4 Trade Skills Electrician Course

I have been looking into becoming an electrician and am having no luck with finding an apprenticiship. I had a sales rep from Train4Trade Skills visit me last week, and I just want some feedback from people if they have taken the course.

How easy was it to get work afterwards if you have no "on site" experience, I just feel sceptical of learning everything by virtual reality and having so little practical time.

Also are all the qualifications you gain relevant, as I wouldnt want to end up with lots of certificates that aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

I would really appreciate some advice, I am dead set on learning a trade and I want to make sure I do it the right way.

Not much work out there at the moment I have seen many people asking to work for nothing on this forum just to get experience. Its getting better but not quickly.

Probably the best route is self employed domestic electrician but even then not a great deal of work. Qualifications required for that is the EAL VRQ, C&G 2382 which is the wiring regulations and then register with a competent person scheme. Cost about £2000 for course £500 for competent person scheme then van tools insurance etc etc no easy answer just depends on the route you want to take and how much cash you have.

Train 4 Trade Skills offer the most qualifications for the money than any other training provider i.e it includes everything that Acat said but 2330 Level2, 3, 2391 AM2 NVQ3 but the lies that youve probably been told by their sales reps will drive you away from them. How many practical training centres did they tell you they had?? as everyone ive spoke to about T4TS reps have been told some proper good quality brown stuff. HTH

I know they have a few training centres down the spine of the uk, which they share with the Princes Trust, Have you got any direct expereince of poor service or any finite reason why T4TS should not be dealt with .

Where are you Dave as that will help other people to recommend alternatives to you. As for me if you are near Dartford go to ableskills Ive been there and they are very good. I think they are also the only training establishment approved by the MOD for ex service retraining.

They use ATL for their practical training who have 2 centres in the UK. Leeds & Southampton (look it up on internet and they have a Guildford centre too which I was told I could go to but found out later they only dealt with Southampton & Leeds (Guildford near to me)) . But I bet they told you different ?? And guess what you wont find out until its too late i.e. Once youve made payments and completed approx 1/4 of course and it really is too late to cancel then. I found out the hard way mate and have to stay in B&B away from my family(kids) for 2 weeks at at time which if I knew that from the start I would not have signed. And believe me thats not the only problem ive had........far from it.

my friend from navy used them when he left and was happy...! now trades as Argyl Electrics...! you need any experience ?? might be able to jack you some days up if ya willing to learn and work for free!!

ABLE SKILLS!!! you joking.... Went to vist there establishment when i was working for MOD in london..! rather take the extra journey to Tradeskills 4 U at gatwick (more friendly and quality of tuition slightly higher grade! (plus they MOD approved as well)

There have been A LOT of people who feel they have been missold courses by Train 4 Trade Skills. Many taking legal action.
