Hi to all the smarter sparks on here,

Can any one answer this question.
If a contactor has a 110v ac coil fitted, will it operate when supplied from a 110v cte transformer giving 55v to each side of A1 & A2.
I have a feeling it wont so any info would be gratefully recieved.
Cheers All
Andy

the coil will see 110v across A1 and A2. irrespective of the centre tap. it will work.

Of course the coil will work if it's 110 AC, how do you think all those appliances/tools work on building sites?? How will the coil know that the transformer is centre tapped for gods sake.

Yep it will work but you can chage it to either 230 vac or 24 vac what application is it for ? Or is this one of the questions you ask when nothing better to do

Sorry for late reply.
No I didnt try but a work colleague had & experienced the coil not pulling in.
I have been with him & yes the literature with the installation (dc brake) says its a 110v coil.
When i contacted DOLD who make the kit they said" no it needs two phases 415v for the coil its a printing error". Problem solved.
Thanks.

Just a quick update,
The coil would not pull in with 55v to each of A1 & A2 as the manufacturer of the dc brake(DOLD) had incorrectly marked their literature as needing 110v for the coil when in reality it required 2 phases 415v.
Thanks to those who replied with sensible answers.
