I know they pay the bills but there are so many it's making the forum unpleasant to visit.

Forum sponsors on the RHS.
A banner type thing at the bottom that I can minimise.
A banner at the bottom of every post.
Ads in the middle of posts.

At one point I had 2 lines of text on the screen and the rest was adverts

Solution
Okay I got out of bed and disabled fully the auto ads feature and gone back to manual.

Right this second even subscribed will see some but they won't jump around or cover content.

But before the week is out I would have configured them all right.

Using Chrome with Ad Block extension, had an issue with processor going mental, but that has stopped, sadly another site i use wont work if i have ad block enabled so have to switch it on and off.
I enable that to collect some rough (not personal data) stats on how many are using such necessary evils. (Ad blockers)

I'd hope the sites you visit get some unblocked visits from time to time. Because if everybody blocked everything, everywhere all at once, the Internet would shut the...
Just a quick update, I'm constantly working on the ads and they'll keep changing until I've found what works best.

If you're a current prolific poster then get in touch with me and I'll temporarily give out a few Subscriptions so that you don't see any ads at all. Those who browse like this will confirm the forum is lovely.

They're a necessary evil at the mo. They'll be greatly calmed-down over the next couple of months.

Do you get Adverts on all pages or just a couple?

Mmm, it's only the 'what's new' tab that's bad. Unusable currently. But that tends to be the page I use - from the new posts icon in the top right corner, next to the alert bell

Okay there's a rogue ad then mate, and once one has permission Google sticks loads on the page. I don't want give too much away about how it works TBH but leave it with me matey. :)

P.S. If you click "Home" tab - that's now a big what's new page, basically.

Cheers Dan.

I think ads shouldn't be showing for you at all now, no?

I never see them, other than a short while after I started using the forum on a mobile. I had everything blocked before, during and after being a subscriber. The problem for me was constant updates to Adsense permissions as it's an incredibly lengthy process to go through all 'fair use' options.

Might be an idea to keep a device free from your own forum log in and be able to view the forum from the perspective of a casual user. I can't help wondering how much traffic is driven away when ads like this appear, although that's obviously not my concern and nor is it my business.

Oh I do. There aren't just 2 options either. Like on and off. There are the user groups that all have different settings too.

Or me! @Dan has basically been working all day and night last week trying to fix the problems and as you all know he has only got one lung now and he had given himself a chest infection so he is back on the anti biotics. He has burnt himself out again.
No worries.
hope Dan gets better soon
Tell him to rest as his health is more important than this tbh
Edit didn't see this was from last year
Mb lol

I've still got 6 adverts at the top of the page. Several are the same.

Only on the forum list page it seems though.
