I have this booked for January 9th.

Iv just passed the 202 exam so now I'm going to dedicate my time in getting ready for this exam.

I need some advice on the best ways to organise notes that I can stick on the book to aid locating specific information/sections.

Only thing iv done so far is label use a page divider to separate and label the different parts and also the appendix 1 section and CSA/rating factors section.

I have a copy of the electricians safari guide to bs7671 so I will be using that too however I'd like to hear how you organised and made notes...Did you post it note specific sections or did you post it note as many sections as you could fit in?

Thanks in advance

I am not sure I know much about "BS7681 Measurement of quartz crystal unit parameters by zero phase technique":)
However for BS7671 I would recommend initially remembering the exam is set up in the order of the book so chapter one questions first etc. so make sure you know what each chapter covers and work your way through.
The contents page is probably the quickest way to direct you to the section you want. It gives the title and the page number so you know what you are looking for and where it is.
I tend to remember things so did not need to label the book but I think you do not want too many tags or they get overwhelming and possibly the examiner will get worried about crib notes being included.
I think what you have at the moment, a marker for each chapter and the appendices 3 and 4, should be enough to guide you quickly to your destination. Though it can be useful to identify the special locations sections (or use the contents page) to get to the right section as these can be slow to find.

Good luck with the exam.

Did the exam on Saturday. Best advice I can give is do plenty of practice exams so you can navigate through the book easily and quickly. You can get a feel for areas you might want to flag other than just the sections and appendices.

Richard has hit the nail. Read the safari book, but don't make post its etc - it may be too overwhelming. The contents page should be all you need, maybe the index if you're in a flap.

Best advice I can give is flag questions you spend more than a minute on and move on to the next. Get the points in the bag and then come back to the tricky ones. If you're struggling to find what it's looking for try and adjust your focus on the question. I had one question that had 4 pieces of info in the question. However, for some reason I was only reading 3 key pieces. It wasn't looking for any of these 3, just the 4th I was missing. A shuffle in my seat, a slap to the face, and a flick through the contents and I was able to realise what the question was actually asking.

I got 100% and I put that entirely down to Alan lynchs book.

thanks all for your advice

I will start doing some mock exams on a regular basis to get used to using the book. I will also work my way through alan lynchs book

Don't forget if you are struggling with 1 particular question, move on you will be surprised how moving on suddenly refreshes you memory, plus you can always change your answers providing you haven't sent your responses/answers

you'll be surprised at how many questions you can confidently answer without even opening the regs.book.

About 3 out of 4 I reckon it was for me, but it still didn't stop me finding the regulation to confirm my memory.

I did I mock exam yesterday without even having a book and got 10 right so I guess your right
