Hi all

PVC Conduit install outside, for a socket and this socket is supplying a lazy spa hot tub plug and play thing. Conduit is top entry into socket, I can see they have used conduit cement at joints and also installed a flat plastic IP washer at the top entry where the conduit adaptor enters socket. Also socket is IP 66. With it being IP66 would this top entry compromise the IP rating of the socket or not have seen a lot of light fittings coming top entry that eventually let in water but they have never installed IP washers ? Replies will be much appreciated

should be OK, but drill a drainage hole in the bottom of the socket box.

where possible use side of bottom entry when outdoors , but i wouldn't change something if i come across a top entry outside as long as were no signs of water getting in

External vertical conduit and cable, as we know, should always have a low point prior to entry of a junction box or outside socket, this can just be done with plastic conduit by a bit of manipulation, but the better fix is bottom entry as suggested by SS above.
