Hi All,
Please can somebody confirm my thoughts.
I have to install a cooker cct. I have chosen 6mm cable. The load is 8Kw. ie 35amps
My calc involves 10amp +30 % remainder fl + 5amps for the socket,
from Diversity, table 1A OSG 17th edition page 97

ie 10+(30% of 25)+5 amps
10+ 7.5+ 5

Total 22.5 amps, ie OK on 6mm cable
Do you agree please
Thanks

looks ok to me , just confirm the installation methods to confirm cable size in clipped direct covered in less than 100 mm insulation or more than 100 mm insulation length of the run voltage drop etc

Dont see a problem with that but have a look at page 134 which gives the current carrying capacity for the cables if it is reference method 103 then you would have to use 10mm or you could suggest 10mm to customer then cable would not need to be replaced if cooker was upgraded.

Hope that helps

Chris

when i was taught diversity you took 10 amps from the design current then find 30% of the remainder ad the 10 amps back on and then add 5 amps if it has a socket on the face plate so if the design current is 35amps -10 = 25amps x 30% =7.5amps +10 +5 =22.5amps

Correct A*
