Discuss Dimming LED's in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

you need to check if the LEDs are dimmable, and if so, get a dimmer suitable for LEDs.

Whichever LED bulbs you have ring the tech helpline of the company to see what dimmers they recommend as not all work.

They also work out expensive Kosnic were around the £24 mark when I priced a job up recently for a 4 watt LED.

Don't try and dim ordinary leds they will fail or even burn up. Phillips do dimable GU10s (very expensive quoted £31 from Neweys). Giant led store online do some for about £16 depending how many you get. Halers do dimable downlighters , our company is using these atm but if you use an electronic dimmer you will have to fit a load resistor to give enough current to make the switch work.

There are these http://www.******************/Main_...Lamps_and_Tubes_Index/Dimmable_CFL/index.html

and you will need a low power dimmer http://www.******************/Products/VLP120W.html

I've seen the LED's working and you can dim them down to about 30%. The LED's themselves, I would say achieve about 80% of a normal halogen lamp, but a tenth of the power!

Sorry cut and paste didn't work. Go to the TLC Direct web site (not trying to recommend them). The lamps are item LT GUD9NW and the dimmer are item VL P120W.
