never ceases to amaze me just how impressive a battery fire is

Electric bike spews out jets of fire before exploding

An electric bike in southern China's Guangdong province suddenly caught fire while it was charging. Bystanders were shocked as the bike sent jets of fire into the air before exploding. Luckily, nobody was hurt.

It won't be a problem in the U.K.
Once 1 or 2 cars have gone up in flames the London Fire Brigade will get all electric vehicles banned.

I went to a fire brigade open day a few years ago and got chatting to a couple of the firefighters about electric cars and what their brigade policy / procedure was if one was on fire, the answer was watch it burn as they have no safe way of fighting the fire

The problem with Li batteries is when they burn they produce Oxygen, this was a recurring problem with LiPo batteries in model aircraft for over twenty years, especially if charged at the wrong setting, the number of lost workshops is quite astonishing considering the supposedly intelligent people in the model aircraft hobby.
