Has anybody rationalized a pricing structure for testing fixed/wired appliances??

With the extra time required for disconnected test, let alone the isolation of appliance circuits, how is the testing process reconciled with the customer's operational requirements?

Meaningful/Sensible comments please.

Yes me too, it's not rocket science honestly switch off prove dead disconnect test re connect switch on end of what 1/2 an hour 1 at the most

Yeah, I wasn't really making this post with regard to technical difficulty, I was just wondering how a client can live with having circuits switched off in order for a bit of testing to be carried out.

With the whole ethos of testing previous to 4th Edition Code of Practice based upon an acceptable price per item, interrupting a customer's operations would come at a different cost, if access is permitted.

If the customer want's to abide by the law of the land and get his kit tested then he has to put up with some form of disruption

Arrange the testing for a time when it will cause minimum disruption. If the portable appliances are being done at the same time then they will all be getting unplugged so pretty much the same level of disruption anyways.

Pricing depends on an assessment of how long testing that particular appliances takes to test. Charge your hourly rate with a minimum of 1hr labour cost.
The client has you their to test his appliances so he won't be bothered having half a days downtime once a year. If it is a problem then do it out of his working hours like on a weekend or at night but then you charge him a premium for supplying that service.
