Discuss Help working out resistance and supply current please. in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Sorry I now see R1 and R2 are in series, I am slow but sure.

I'm confused now.. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: Doesn't take much...
OP's post:
R1 = 100 ohm
R2 = 100 ohm.
They are in parallel, which is 50 ohm. Then add the 10 ohm to it. = 60 ohm.
I am reading this right, aren't I??

Yep I can see my mistake, sorry if I caused confusion to OP! I have reported myself and will sit on the stairs for a while.

You do realise it's 1 minute for each year of your age...
I'd be there for a long time....

I am going by the red number in post #4 that you put up @Spoon so the two R are 40 and 60 in series added together 100 Ohm. To avoid confusion @telectrix post #5 has it clearly.

How dare you.... :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
I have each resistor idented... Mine is more clear...
See what you have done OP..... Hope you are happy...... :sob::sob::sob:

I’m off work bored because of the snow so I’m doing some revision, could I ask you another please? How would you work this out?

In that diagram because we consider the conductors to be of zero resistance the voltage is only dropped over the resistor so the two locations referred to in the text are electrically equivalent.
In each case the voltage measured will be the voltage dropped over the resistor.
Because there is only one resistor the voltage drop will be the supply voltage.
