Hey all,
I've been scouring the forums so thought I'd might as well join and start by saying thanks!

First off a little about me: 25, female, from cardiff. Been looking at a career change as such. I'm actually a potter, so been looking at a path that is hands on, using my brain but still being able to use my people skills. After going through options - I've arrived here, looking at being an electrician!

long story short, was about to say yes to signing up to a course of £5k and...that little voice in my head spoke up...does it really cost this much for qualifications?!!? and the answer is no. weirdly I feel much better of the situation even though I'm back to square one. So going to have a look at college courses, with looking at becoming a mate, free work, kind of thing and work my way up as you can't beat experience, and with experience comes confidence! Ooh I wonder if any female electricians might need a mate...anyway

so thanks for having me :D

Hello and welcome from another newy. I'm a Yorkshire man and I don't like wasting hard learnt cash. Shouldn't cost you anything near 5k. Check out "howto.co.Uk/learning/adult-learning/obtaining financial support".. for adult learning grants and loans. Just had a look and if you qualify they will pay up to 80% if not all of it. This is how I did it and only paid 500 quid for 2330 level 2 and 3 plus my 17th. Check it out and do your home work and put the savings towards buying a tester, books, tools and you'll still have change left over for a holiday. Buy me a pint if it pays off for you :)
